Anthony doubles up at Carifta trials
Zoe Anthony of Marlins was a double winner when the National Age Group Long Course Championships hosted by the Amateur Swimming Association of T&T splashed off at the National Aquatic Centre, Balmain, Couva on Wednesday night.
Anthony first won the 11-12 girls 200m breaststroke in three minutes, 03.06 seconds, a CCCAN qualification standard time ahead of Todal Wav Aquatics’ Joy Blackett (3:16.87 mins), and Flying Fish’ Danielle Blackman (3:22.00 mins).
Already dubbed a future national team star, Anthony then won the 400m freestyle in four minutes, 58.26 minutes followed by fellow national swimmers, Blue Dolphins’ Savannah Chee-Wah (5:13.72 mins) and Tidal Wave’s Gabrielle Vickles (5.15.39 mins).
The meet, which serves as the last qualifier for the CARIFTA Swimming Championships.scheduled from 31st March - April 3rd 2018 in Kingston Jamaica continued last night and will resume today as well.
Other winners on the opening night included Brianna Bocage, Ileana Bocage, Shem St Hillaire, Kyle West, Obadyah Ince and Liam Roberts in the 200m breaststroke as well as Isabella Edwards, Jada Chatoor, Shania David, Zarek Wilson, Malik Nelson and Christian Chatoor in the 400m freestyle.
