Fix our roads first please
I read, in Monday’s Guardian, an article by Ralph Banwarie about work being done on the erosion at Manzanilla. I was elated to see at last that something was being done about the erosion and then the article cited that a boardwalk is to be constructed. I was horrified!
I read the article three times and no mention was made of repairing the road from Sangre Grande to Mayaro. Mr Sinanan spoke instead of putting money towards a boardwalk! A boardwalk, when access to that boardwalk is on dilapidated and 19 century roads! Why do governments after governments think that they MUST copy other country’s ideas and projects whether or not it’s suitable to this country?
A boardwalk instead of roads? A boardwalk, when any environmentalist or therapist can tell you that the sand is therapeutic to the body instead of concrete? Government after government forgo the essential for the non-essential. So, we the residents have to continue driving on bad roads no matter what we say.
