Few items in society can be consumed by all persons at the same time, or no one at all.
This is the essence of a public good.
The Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre, together with Horizons Art Gallery recently hosted an exhibition of photographs by William Aguiton in the hotel’s lobby.
The exhibition, titled William Aguiton, Retrospective: Life in Photographs reflected Aguiton’s appreciation for the beauty of the human form and his love for the natural and social environment. The lobby area came alive on the evening as specially invited guests viewed the images of flowers, sunsets, seascapes and portraits.
Photography became a love for Aguiton as early as his teens. He is a self-taught photographer who received lots of help from senior practitioners like Noel Norton and Gary Chan.
William “Bill” Aguiton was the first ever local General Manager of the Hilton Trinidad and served in the position for 12 years. He also became the first Trinidadian to be named Hotelier of the Year by the Caribbean Hotel Association.
Aguiton, a recipient of the Hummingbird Gold Medal also served as the President of the Trinidad Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism Association and as Chairman of the Hospitality and Tourism Institute.
